Morphogenesis
Morphogenesis is one of the chapters of the videomapping project All Shapes Have a Beginning, dedicated to the figure of Alan Turing and created during the Master in Visual Arts at IED in Milan, under the supervision of professor Vinicio Bordin.
The project draws inspiration from Turing’s famous 1952 paper, The Chemical Basis of Morphogenesis, in which he describes how forms and patterns found in nature—such as stripes and spirals—can spontaneously emerge from a homogeneous and uniform state. The research focused precisely on this aspect of his scientific work, transforming mathematical and biological theories into visual language.
The projection took place on a wall at IED, prepared with a texture painted directly onto the surface. This structure, resembling an interwoven cage that recalls embryonic fibers, allowed the visual composition to physically interact with the space, creating a dialogue between the structure and the projected image.
